These are some of the students that won prizes during the Nong Nopamas Beauty Contest during Loy Krathong.
นักเรียนศวป.เข้าประกวดนางนพมาศในวันลอยกระทงเมื่อวันที่ 2 พ.ย. 52 ในสถานที่ต่างๆ และได้รับรางวัลดังต่อไปนี้ 1.ด.ญ.ระพีพัฒน์ พรมจันทร์ ชั้น ป.1/3 ได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ ได้รับเงินรางวัล 1,000 บาท ที่โรงเรียนนายเรือ 2. ด.ญ.ศิโรรัตน์ โกการ์ ป.5/4 ได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ ได้เงินรางวัล 2,500 บาท ประกวดที่ ห้างบิ๊กซี และได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ จากการประกวดที่หมู่บ้าน Perfect Place ด้วย ได้รับเงินรางวัล 1,500 บาท 3. ด.ญ.ชลธิชา ศรีสุข ชั้น ป.3/3 ได้รางวัลรองชนะเลิศอันดับ 1 ได้รับเงิน 6,500 บาท เข้าประกวดที่ เมืองโบราณ 4. ด.ญ. วรลัญช์ แอบยิ้ม ชั้น อนุบาลปีที่ 2/2 ได้รางวัลชมเชย ได้รับเงินรางวัล 1,000 บาท ประกวดที่เทศบาลนครสมุทรปราการ 5. ด.ญ.วรินทร์ธร ทองวิจิตร ป.2/4 ได้รางวัลชมเชย ได้รับเงิน 500 บาท 6. ด.ญ.วชรมน ใจมั่น ป.3/4 ได้รับรางวัล ขวัญใจหนูน้อยแพรกษา ได้เงินรางวัล 10,000 บาท ประกวดที่แพรกษา

นาย ชนะ นพสุวรรณ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดสมุทรปราการร่วมลอยกระทงที่เขื่อนริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา หน้าศาลากลางสมุทรปราการ เนื่องในงานประเพณีลอยกระทง ประจำปี 52 นอกจากนั้นเหล่าผู้เข้าประกวดนางนพมาศ และประชาชนชาวปากน้ำได้ร่วมกันลอยกระทงเป้นจำนวนมาก สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงจิตสำนึกของประชาชนชาวปากน้ำที่เล็งเห้นความสำคัญในการสืบ สานวัฒนธรรม ประเพณีลอยกระทงให้คงอยู่สืบไป
One of the most beautiful festivals of the year is Loy Krathong. On the evening of the full moon during November, this year on Monday 2nd November, people went to their local canals, rivers and lakes to float little krathongs for good luck. In the krathongs they put candles, incense sticks and usually a few coins. On the same day there was also concerts and beauty contests. In the above picture, Mr. Chana Nopsuan, the Deputy Governor of Samut Prakan, is seen here floating his Krathong at City Hall. In the pictures below, you can see some of the contestants in the Miss Nopamas Beauty Contest and also the City Mayor.

Today is the start of the second term at school. We are happy to welcome two new English teachers. They are Tina and Regan. They come from America. In this picture they are greeting the students during morning assembly. This week they will try and visit as many different classes as they can. At the moment we have four foreign English teachers. Jon returned home to America last term.
2 พ.ย.52 วันนี้เป็นวันแรกของการเปิดเรียนในภาคเรียนที่ 2 ทางโรงเรียนได้มีโอกาสต้อนรับครูชาวอเมริกันที่จะมาสอนภาษาอังกฤษคือ Ms. Tina Hsu Schweizer จบการศึกษาปริญญาตรีสาขาจิตวิทยา จาก New York University และ Ms.Regan Jamie Main จบปริญญาตรีศึกษาศาสตร์จาก Western Washington University และในเช้าวันนี้คุณครูลาวัลย์ ใจตรง ได้แนะนำคุณครูทั้ง 2 ท่าน ให้นักเรียนได้รู้จัก ซึ่งคุณครูได้พูดทักทายกับนักเรียนด้วย สำหรับ Ms. Luaren และ Ms.Choua ยังคงสอนภาษาอังกฤษในเทอม 2 ด้วย

Today is the full moon in November. On this day every year, all Thai people go to their local canals and rivers to float a "krathong" which is like a small basket. They put inside this candles, incense sticks and a few coins for good luck. As they float the krathong they make a wish for their future. They also make an apology to mother nature for polluting the waterway in the past. This evening there will be concerts, beauty contests and fireworks. At school, the students made "krathongs".

เช้า วันนี้ มีขบวนแห่งานเทศกาลกินเจ ปากน้ำ และพิธีส่งเสด็จกิ้วอ้วงฮุกโจ้ว (เทพเจ้าทั้ง 9 พระองค์) ขึ้นสู่สรวงสวรรค์ โดยขบวนแห่เริ่มต้นจากโรงเจท่งเสียงมายังศาลากลางจังหวัด เพื่อทำการลอยกระทงเจขนาดใหญ่สู่แม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา หลังจากนั้นขบวนแห่ได้เดินแห่รอบเมืองปากน้ำ 1 รอบ โดยระหว่างที่แห่ผ่านหน้าศาลเจ้าพ่อหลักเมืองมีการแสดงโชว์เชิดสิงโต เพื่อแสดงความเคารพต่อเจ้าพ่อหลักเมือง เมื่อขบวนแห่วนมาจบที่ศาลากลางจังหวัดก็เป็นอันเสร็จพิธีและถือเป็นการปิด เทศกาลกินเจ ปากน้ำ ประจำปี 2552
After nine days and nights of eating a vegan diet and keeping the 10 precepts, the Vegetarian Festival in Thailand is finally over. The festival ended with a large parade through the town of Paknam early on the morning of 27th October. Making an impromptu appearance at the events was Mr. Surachai Khanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan. He is seen pictured here with his wife. He joined hundreds of other devotees dressed in white at Rong Jat Thong Siang shortly after 6 a.m. He then walked in the first parade through the town to the City Hall Plaza.

เช้า วันจันทร์ที่ 26 ต.ค.ที่ผ่านมา อ.บางบ่อจัดงานนมัสการหลวงพ่อปาน อำเภอบางบ่อ ประจำปี 2552 โดยมีนายชนะ นพสุวรรณ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดสมุทรปราการคนใหม่ เป็นประธานเปิดงาน
งาน นมัสการหลวงพ่อปานอำเภอบางบ่อ เป็นงานประเพณีที่จัดติดต่อกันมานานกว่า 80 ปี เพื่อให้ผู้มีจิตศรัทธาได้มานมัสการ และปิดทองรูปหล่อองค์หลวงพ่อปาน โดยจัดขึ้นในวันขึ้น 8 ค่ำเดือน 12 ของทุกปี ซึ่งในปีนี้ตรงกับวันที่ 26-28 ตุลาคม 2552 โดยก่อนจะถึงงานวันนี้นั้น มีการแห่องค์หลวงพ่อปานทั้งทางบกและทางน้ำไปยังตำบลต่างๆ เพื่อให้ประชาชนในตำบลนั้นๆได้นมัสการและปิดทอง ท้ายสุดจึงอัญเชิญองค์หลวงพ่อปานมาประดิษฐาน ณ มณฑปหน้าที่ว่าการอำเภอบางบ่อ นอกจากนี้ยังมีกิจกรรมอื่นๆ ตลอดทั้ง 3 วันของงาน เช่น การแข่งเรือชิงถ้วยพระราชทาน มหรสพสมโภช รวมทั้งการมอบทุนการศึกษาจากมูลนิธิงานปิดทองหลวงพ่อปาน และทุนมณฑปหลวงพ่อปาน แก่นักเรียนที่เรียนดีแต่ขาดแคลนทุนทรัพย์จำนวน 41 ทุนด้วยกัน
On the morning of Monday 26th October 2009, a parade was held through the town of Bang Bo carrying the image of revered monk Luang Phor Pan. Last week, another parade was held starting from Wat Mongkhol Khotawat in Klong Dan Town and visited most districts in the area by truck and boat. Today, Mr. Chana Nopsuwan, the new deputy Governor of Samut Prakan, presided over the ceremony to worship the image in front of the Bang Bo District Office. The 96 years old abbot of Wat Bang Bo led the chanting. During the ceremony, scholarships were also handed out to four local school students. The main worshipping fair then takes place in Bang Bo Town from 26th to 28th October. There will be boat racing, likay performances and other entertainment.

เช้า วันนี้ นายสุรชัย ขันอาสา ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดสมุทรปราการ ข้าราชการในจังหวัด และพสกนิกรชาวปากน้ำ ร่วมพิธีวางพวงมาลาถวายราชสักการะ พระบรมราชานุสาวรีย์ พระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 5 บริเวณศาลากลางจังหวัดสมุทรปราการ เนื่องในวันปิยมหาราช 23 ตุลาคม 2552
Today marks the anniversary of the death of King Rama V who is regarded by many people as one of the most important monarchs in recent Thai history. Every year, on the 23rd October, Thai people remember him on this day which is known as Chulalongkorn Day or Piya Maharaj Day in Thai. King Rama V is credited with abolishing slavery and also pushing forward reforms that helped modernize the country. Every city in the country has their own statue of King Rama V. On this day people gather at the statue to commemorate his life and also to lay a wreath at the foot of the statue. In Samut Prakan, Mr. Surachai Khanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan, laid a wreath at three different statues. This first one was at the King Rama V Statue at City Hall Plaza.

เช้า นี้ มีงานนมัสการหลวงปานประจำปี 2552 ซึ่งถือเป็นหนึ่งในประเพณีที่มีความสำคัญและมีชื่อเสียงของจังหวัด สมุทรปราการ งานจัดขึ้น ณ วัดมงคลโคธาวาส(วัดหลวงพ่อปาน) โดยมีผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัด นายสุรชัย ขันอาสา ให้เกียรติเป็นประธานการเปิดงาน
ใน งานมีการอัญเชิญรูปหล่อจำลองของหลวงพ่อปานลงเรือบุษบง แห่ไปตามลำคลอง คลองด่าน มุ่งหน้าสู่อ่าวไทย โดยมีเรือประมงชาวบ้านจำนวนมากร่วมขบวนแห่ ขบวนแห่แล่นเรือวนจำนวน 3 รอบ จากนั้นเคลื่อนขบวนกลับเข้าฝั่งและอัญเชิญรูปหล่อองค์หลวงพ่อปานขึ้น ประดิษฐานบนรถบุษบกแห่ไปทั่วจังหวัดสมุทรปราการ มีประชาชนจำนวนมากที่มาร่วมนมัสการองค์หลวงพ่อปานทั้งที่ลงเรือตามขบวนแห่ และที่อยู่บริเวณวัด
งานนมัสการหลวงปานใน ปีนี้จัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 22-28 ตุลาคม 2552 โดยผู้ที่สนใจสามารถไปนมัสการและปิดทององค์หลวงพ่อปานได้ ในช่วงเย็นยังมีการออกร้านต่างๆ และการแสดงคอนเสิร์ตจากศิลปินต่างๆอีกด้วย

One of my favourite festivals in Thailand is undoubtedly Luang Phor Pan Worshipping Festival in Bang Bo District of Samut Prakan. I went last year for the first time and had no idea what to expect. There were so many surprises that I had a really great day. I went again this morning fearing that it wouldn't be special any more. However, it still was as fantastic and intense as ever. The highlight of the day is the boat parade out into the Gulf of Thailand. Literally hundreds of boats of all shapes and sizes followed the vessel carrying the image of the revered monk Luang Phor Pan. Once out there we did a massive "wient tien" which involved going around in circles three times lasting about forty minutes.

เมื่อ เวลา 19.00 น. ของวันที่ 22 ต.ค. มีพิธีลอยกระทงเจ ที่บริเวณเขื่อนหน้าศาลากลางจังหวัดสมุทรปราการ เพื่อเชิญดวงวิญญาณทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในน้ำ มารับเครื่องเซ่นไหว้ในวันรุ่งขึ้น ณ โรงเจท่งเสียงปากน้ำ ในพิธีลอยกระทงเจครั้งนี้ มีชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนจำนวนมากเข้าร่วมในพิธีนี้
Everyone knows about Loy Krathong that happens on the full moon in November. However, not many people know that we have another Loy Krathong in October. The phrase "loy krathong" means to float a bowl shaped container. It is not a festival like Christmas which celebrates a particular event. You can actually float a krathong at any time of the year. The annual event I went to last night was called "Loy Krathong Jay" and is part of the ten day Vegetarian Festival that we are having in Thailand at the moment.
